Who runs the classes?
Meet Boo.
Boo is one of the midwives who teaches our Stoke Newington antenatal classes. Boo qualified as a midwife in 2016 with a first class honours degree from City University. She also completed a Masters Degree in Enhanced Midwifery Care with Distinction. She has worked as a midwife across all areas of the maternity services at Homerton Healthcare in East London. She recently qualified as a International Board Certified Lactation Consultant and works as part of the Infant Feeding Team. Boo says: “Teaching and guiding expectant parents has always been one of my favourite aspects of midwifery. I love seeing people’s understanding evolve and their confidence grow as they get ready for their baby’s birthday.”
How does this differ to NCT classes in Stoke Newington?
The reason NCT springs to mind first for many people when thinking about antenatal classes is because the classes have been around since the 1950s. For many decades they were the only form of antenatal classes available. This means many people believe that all antenatal classes are NCT classes, which is not the case.
The NCT is a charity and instructors complete a degree course to teach the classes. All Happy Parents Happy Baby instructors are midwives and doctors so have a degree but also thousands of hours of practical experience working in birth centres and hospitals.
Unlike NCT classes, our antenatal classes all include hypnobirthing and baby first aid at no extra cost. At the time of writing, NCT classes in Stoke Newington are priced at £369, compared to £259 for Happy Parents Happy Baby antenatal classes. NCT classes in Stoke Newington are held at Clissold House whereas our classes take place at The Prince Pub on Kynaston Road so you will be in lovely surroundings where you can make the most of socialising with your course mates.
