Who runs the classes?

Meet Pip.

Pip is one of the midwives that teaches our Rayleigh classes. Pip qualified as a midwife in 2015 after studying at City University, London. She is currently working at Southend Hospital with a special interest in fetal monitoring and high risk labour care. Pip says: “Preparing to meet your babies can seem overwhelming. I’m really excited to answer your questions and help you learn about labour/birth/baby care. What is also lovely is the opportunity to meet families who are expecting at a similar time, gaining a huge support network from them and making friends for life!”

How does this differ to NCT classes in Rayleigh?

The reason NCT springs to mind first for many people when thinking about antenatal classes is because the classes have been around since the 1950s. For many decades they were the only form of antenatal classes available. This means many people believe that all antenatal classes are NCT classes, which is not the case.

The NCT is a charity and instructors complete a degree course to teach the classes. All Happy Parents Happy Baby instructors are midwives and doctors so have a degree but also thousands of hours of practical experience working in birth centres and hospitals.

Unlike NCT classes, our antenatal classes all include hypnobirthing and baby first aid at no extra cost. At the time of writing, NCT classes in Rayleigh are priced at £269, compared to £199 for Happy Parents Happy Baby antenatal classes. NCT classes in Rayleigh take place at the Rayleigh Baptist Church, whereas our classes take place at Rayleigh Lodge so you can relax and make the most of socialising with your course mates.

Our local Rayleigh community

Most of the people coming on our Rayleigh course are from Rayleigh. The course is also popular with those living in the neighbouring areas of Benfleet, Hockley, Hadleigh, Hullbridge and Battlesbridge.

From meet-ups at Rayleigh Mount and walks in King George’s Park, to coffee dates and hangouts at each other’s houses, graduates from our Rayleigh antenatal course are never short of things to do.

Is it worth it?

“Truly brilliant course. Couldn’t wish for better. Feel so much more empowered about birth and looking after baby having been on this course. The resources you’re given afterwards are great too. Excellent value for money! Thanks guys”
