Clapton: where are the classes held?
Our Clapton antenatal classes are held at the popular Clapton Hart on Lower Clapton Road, a 5 minute walk from Clapton overground station.

Who runs the classes?
Meet Cate.
Cate is one of the midwives who teaches our Clapton antenatal classes. Cate qualified as a midwife in 2010 from a London university. She has worked at Homerton hospital for the last 13 years working in all parts of the maternity unit. Cate also has a four year old son who she birthed at Homerton! Cate says: “Being a midwife is so much more than a job to me and I currently work in a birth centre which is my main passion in midwifery. I love being a HPHB course host because birth education is so important to me and I enjoy helping people learn about the wonderful journey ahead of them. “
How does this differ to NCT classes in Clapton?
The reason NCT springs to mind first for many people when thinking about antenatal classes is because the classes have been around since the 1950s. For many decades they were the only form of antenatal classes available. This means many people believe that all antenatal classes are NCT classes, which is not the case.
The NCT is a charity and instructors complete a degree course to teach the classes. All Happy Parents Happy Baby instructors are midwives and doctors so have a degree but also thousands of hours of practical experience working in birth centres and hospitals.
Unlike NCT classes, our antenatal classes all include hypnobirthing and baby first aid at no extra cost. At the time of writing, the nearest NCT classes to Clapton are in Walthamstow and are priced at £369, compared to £199 for Happy Parents Happy Baby antenatal classes. The nearest NCT classes take place at The Lighthouse Methodist Church in Walthamstow, whereas our classes take place at the Clapton Hart pub so you can relax and make the most of socialising with your course mates.
Our local Clapton community
Most of the people coming on our Clapton course are from Clapton and Dalston. The course is also popular with those living in neighbouring areas of Hackney, Leyton and the Lee Valley area.
From walks in Lee Valley and Hackney Marshes, to coffee shop hangouts and playdates at each other’s houses, graduates from our Clapton antenatal classes are never short of things to do together.
