How much are Chigwell antenatal classes?

Who runs the classes?
Meet Cate.
Cate is one of the midwives who teaches our Leyton and Leytonstone antenatal classes. Cate qualified as a midwife in 2010 from a London university. She has worked at Homerton hospital for the last 13 years working in all parts of the maternity unit. Cate also has a four year old son who she birthed at Homerton! Cate says: “Being a midwife is so much more than a job to me and I currently work in a birth centre which is my main passion in midwifery. I love being a HPHB course host because birth education is so important to me and I enjoy helping people learn about the wonderful journey ahead of them. “
How does this differ to NCT classes in Chigwell?
The reason NCT springs to mind first for many people when thinking about antenatal classes is because the classes have been around since the 1950s. For many decades they were the only form of antenatal classes available. This means many people believe that all antenatal classes are NCT classes, which is not the case.
The NCT is a charity and instructors complete a degree course to teach the classes. All Happy Parents Happy Baby instructors are midwives and doctors so have a degree but also thousands of hours of practical experience working in birth centres and hospitals.
Unlike NCT classes, our antenatal classes all include hypnobirthing and baby first aid at no extra cost. At the time of writing, NCT classes in the Leytonstone area cost more than Happy Parents Happy Baby antenatal classes. The closest NCT classes to Leyton and Leytonstone take place at Wanstead Library or St Peter in the Forest Church in Walthamstow whereas our classes take place at the Heathcote and Star pub so you can relax and make the most of socialising with your course mates.
Our local community
Most people on our Chigwell course are from Chigwell. The course is also popular with people living neighbouring areas of Buckhurst Hill, Loughton and Theydon Bois.
From walks in Hainault Forest, to hangouts in coffee shops and at each other’s houses, graduates from our Chigwell antenatal classes are never short of things to do.

We recommend that you begin your course after week 25 of your pregnancy to complete the course by week 37. There are recommended courses for your due date on the course location pages.

Absolutely! Birth partners play a really important role, so we encourage them to come to all sessions. If you don’t have a birth partner, please contact us about our solo-parent family discount.

We’d love to accommodate your needs, so please complete the waiting list form here. We will then be in touch and can suggest any alternatives we may have on available.

You will be able to access all the information from the in-person sessions via your HPHB Course Portal. We are unable to facilitate swapping to a single session of another course, due to capacity issues.
The live online Q&A sessions are recorded and will be available on your course portal to watch back, if you miss any of these.
