Who runs the classes?

Meet Lindsay.

Lindsay is one of the midwives who teaches our Leeds antenatal classes. Lindsay graduated as a qualified Midwife from the University of Manchester in 2010 and since then has worked as a hospital midwife caring for families during each stage of their pregnancies. She now works as a Midwifery Practice Educator in a Manchester hospital and has a passion for antenatal education.

Lindsay is also a busy mum of 2 young girls and enjoys playing netball for a local league in her spare time.

She says: “I am so excited to meet you on the course - this is such a special and exciting time in your lives and i can't wait to share my knowledge and experience with you to make sure you leave the course feeling supported, informed and ready for your new arrival(s)!”

How does this differ to NCT classes in Chapel Allerton, Leeds?

The reason NCT springs to mind first for many people when thinking about antenatal classes is because the classes have been around since the 1950s. For many decades they were the only form of antenatal classes available. This means many people believe that all antenatal classes are NCT classes, which is not the case.

The NCT is a charity and instructors complete a degree course to teach the classes. All Happy Parents Happy Baby instructors are midwives and doctors so have a degree but also thousands of hours of practical experience working in birth centres and hospitals.

Unlike NCT classes, our antenatal classes all include hypnobirthing and baby first aid at no extra cost. At the time of writing, the nearest NCT classes are in Wakefield and are priced at £269, compared to prices from £199 for Happy Parents Happy Baby antenatal classes. NCT classes in Wakefield are held at Wrenthorpe Methodist Church, whereas our classes take place at The Mustard Pot pub where you can relax and make the most of socialising with your course mates.

Is it worth it?

“Truly brilliant course. Couldn’t wish for better. Feel so much more empowered about birth and looking after baby having been on this course. The resources you’re given afterwards are great too. Excellent value for money! Thanks guys”
